Dallas Cowboys top Chicago Bears 31-17 on Sunday Night Football!

Observations from Section 317

~ Victory Monday #2 — it’s a BEAUTIFUL day in Arlington & I’m in a GREAT mood!

~ Along with the “No purses/bags allowed” Stadium policy, how about a “No buns allowed” rule? (See picture!)

~ I don’t go to other NFL games & I’ve always been down at the Cowboys end so I don’t know if it’s common for a Head Coach to do what Garrett does before every game but I really enjoy watching him go man to man, shaking hands with each one.

~ In case they didn’t show it on television (and, frankly, I’d be OK if they never show another pre-game National Anthem until the recent trend has passed), all our Boys were standing during the Anthem. A bonus? I’m enjoying the enthusiasm with which fans are singing the Anthem these days!

~ I’ve watched football for more years than I’ll admit but last night was the first time I’ve ever heard an official say that the ball would be placed on the “23 yard & 1 foot line”. I’m a “little details” person so I kind of liked it. Maybe it’ll catch on!

~ After so many close calls (I can think of three), I was beginning to think Dak was jinxed and was never going to get his first TD pass! (Finally got to throw up my X this year!)

~ Ron Leary & Chaz Green did a really nice job covering for Tyron Smith & La’el Collins.

~ Wait. Dan Bailey missed a field goal? Did you feel the earth move?

~ I didn’t read it, but I saw an article in yesterday’s newspaper re: Homefield Advantage/Disadvantage at The Stadium. I didn’t have to read it — I know the reputation we have. In case you were wondering, I ALWAYS do my part to change that & influence those around me. 🙂 It was sooooo nice to walk away from the Stadium after a HOME WIN. It’s been too long!

~ Quick Hits: Loved Zeke’s game tonight and, especially, that “hurdle” play. I was very pleased (with the obvious exception) with Williams’ bounce-back game tonight. I have NO idea what Garrett saw on that challenge (the pass to Witten at the goal line) — he just needed to look up at the big TV (like WE all did) before throwing (and a beautiful throw it was!) that red flag. Beasley’s quick — super-quick! I had no idea that Dunbar had never scored an NFL TD — his stats: 1 carry, 1 yard, 1 TD last night. Nice team win. The D did their thing — nice game from Claiborne.

Living in California in 1972, as a 7-year-old girl, Jeanette Brewer watched "America's Team" on Monday Night Football. She was instantly hooked and has been a Dallas Cowboys fan since that night. A year later, her family moved to the Dallas/Fort Worth. Jeanette currently runs her family's business in downtown Arlington, TX - just five minutes from Cowboys (AT&T) Stadium. She holds a degree in History from University of Texas-Arlington and since UTA hasn't had a football program since her time there, the Cowboys get all of her attention during football season. Jeanette is neither a blogger nor a writer, but enjoys making observations about her favorite team. She is the eternal optimist and believes, each year, that this is "our year". She has two children and three grandchildren -- the toddler boys have already been taught to "Throw Up The X" and the baby girl has her DC Cheerleader uniform ready to go for this season & beyond.
