NFL Playoff Predictions, Divisional Week Edition

Fools rush in where angels fear to tread. That said, let’s review my wildcard week predictions and brace ourselves for another fearless safari in the NFL playoff jungle.

Here is how we did last week:

New Orleans Saints @ Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks upset the Super Bowl-defending Saints, 41–36. I had the Saints winning. (Who didn’t?) I also had the Seahawks covering the ten-point spread. And I took the over on the 44.5 total points. I was right on two of the three categories. Continue reading

All In The Family? Dallas Cowboys Set To Interview Rob Ryan For Defensive Coordinator Position

For men—and football-loving women—of a certain age, the Dallas Cowboys hiring Rob Ryan, son of arch enemy Buddy Ryan, is something akin to Laila Ali (that’s Muhammad Ali’s daughter) marrying one of George Foreman’s kids (all of which, I believe, are named George.)

If you are old enough to remember the Buddy Ryan era in Philadelphia (1986–1995), then you remember him as a rotund, irreverent loud-mouth, who happened to be one heck of a defensive coach. If you are not old enough to remember any of that, then just think Rex Ryan.

Somewhere in a  south Boston neighborhood, Little Johnny is walking through the living room with his Nintendo DS in hand when he sees Grampa sitting in Dad’s recliner, half napping, half watching some random news program. The story Grampa is paying no attention to is about the latest YouTube sensation, the homeless Ohio fellow named Ted Williams, the man with the golden pipes.
