Getting Down in Downtown Dallas: NFLPA Throws Biggest Party of Super Bowl Week

In Texas, Friday night lights can mean one thing, and one thing only: Football, baby.

Last night, the NFL Players Association gave new meaning to the term with their NFL Players party, held at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Dallas, beneath the bright lights of the iconic Reunion Tower.

Outside, the roads were ice-covered and the temperature was a bone-chilling 19 degrees. Inside, the NFLPA was throwing the biggest bash of Super Bowl week for its players, former players and guests. Cowboys Legend Randy White Talks Cowboys, Super Bowl, Hall of Fame…and Detergent?

Randy White. For Cowboys fans of a certain age, the very name carries a certain mystique.

He is the Manster— half man, half monster. He is, according to our own list, one of the top five players in the 51-year history of the Dallas Cowboys.

Randy White stands 6’4″. His playing weight was 265 pounds. He was the first Cowboy ever to bench press more than 500 pounds. He was so quick, that he was actually drafted to play linebacker. It was a stroke of Landry genius to move him to defensive tackle, where he forever made his mark on the NFL. Continue reading

Super Bowl XLV: Jerry Jones’ One Shining Moment

Jerry Jones is right where he has always wanted to be: In the center of the universe.

The whole world has turned its attention to the Dallas/Fort Worth area, and more particularly to Arlington and the the shiny new home of the Dallas Cowboys.

That new home has not been particularly kind to the Cowboys. In their first two seasons there, they have forged a forgettable 8–8 record. This year was particularly bad. The Cowboys were only 2–6 at home in 2010. Continue reading
